Students put forward impassioned petitions in the Public Speaking and Debate workshop yesterday, as they presented personal orations on the theme, ‘What I would like to change in the world’. One stand-out was a piece advocating for the decriminalisation of drugs in the US and Mexico ―the speaker lambasted the so-called ‘war on drugs’, arguing that current policy is ineffective and immoral.
From the problems of today to the carefree climes of prehistory: students joined up with fellow ORA campuses St Peter’s and St Hugh’s for a stone-age shindig in St Catherine’s College. Some students took their chances on the bucking bronco, whilst others felt the sea breezes on the surf simulator. Students danced late into the evening with their peers from Yarnton Manor and their new friends from Peter’s and Hugh’s. Breakfast at the Manor this morning was buzzing with tales of the evening, and with anticipation for the Vintage Circus party that awaits students next week at the Randolph Hotel!
