Medical Preparation students took their skills out on the town yesterday as they visited Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. They buffed up their clinical expertise in a workshop with seasoned professionals, learning the nuts and bolts of blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respiratory rate – and to round off proceedings, catheterisation.
And that evening, at long last, came the event that we had all been waiting for, having caught glimpses and heard whispers of students tickling the ivories and busting moves between lessons – ORA’s Got Talent! True to form, singers Srdjana, Carolina, Artemis, and Rhea stunned the crowd to silence with their beautiful renditions, whilst Nicolas and Azam provided comic relief with their flawless impressions. Faisal read minds (a little too accurately for the comfort of some). Skip, Kshiti, Jason and Tom threw tremendous, at times inconceivable, shapes, and Pahul and Rami rapped in gentle satire of the House Deans. House Dean Alex proved a peerless compère, whilst Zoe, Marco, Jamshid and Rebecca were just and fair in their judgement. The ultimate champions were Rhea (vocals) and Leo (piano), with their impeccable take on Bruno Mars’ ‘When I Was Your Man’.
