Yesterday was a great day of academic excellence here at St Peter’s College. After a relaxing morning off after an action packed couple of days, the students had the exciting opportunity to welcome in guest speakers for the ORACLE activity this afternoon – where leading industry experts give enlightening talks on specific subject areas, mostly information not commonly found in any school curriculum.
First on the list of leading experts was Ben Ambridge, a senior lecturer in psychology at the University of Liverpool gave the next speech. Ben’s research is primarily based on children’s language development, which led him to discuss his latest book ‘Psy-Q’ and reported some of his major findings to the students.
Next was Emily Penn, a Marine Conservation and full-time adventurer. Emily is a skipper, ocean advocate and artist dedicated to studying environmental challenges in the most remote parts of our planet. Emily frequently gives talks at conferences all over the world relating to our oceans, human mindset and future society.
Finally, Cameron Parker, the UK’s top motivational speaker gave an inspiring speech to the students. Cameron has inspired tens of thousands of individual’s right across the UK. He outlined his formula for achieving goals and personal development and gave his advice on how the students should treat the coming years.
The students spend their evening relaxing in some well earned free time, with the option to go to the University Parks where counsellors led games of 5-a-side football and rounders.
