The students staying at St Peter’s College have successfully completed their first day of lessons. The students have illustrated incredible enthusiasm and capability to their teachers, really proving that they are eager to learn. Teachers have only praise thus far, with a real potential for a highly successful group.
The ‘Film Academy’ programme is led by Bruce Windwood; a writer and producer, best known for directing ’12 in a Box’ (2007), starring Miranda Hart. The students will be led various workshops enabling them to build their film knowledge and expertise from cinematography through to film history. Students embarking on the ‘New Perspectives’ programme aim to gain a broad variety of different curriculum in their short stay with us including Experimental Psychology, Business Challenges and Public Speaking and Debate. Students will hopefully discover their favourite subject, whilst also rounding their overall knowledge of new topics.
After their first day of lessons, the students gathered in St Peter’s Quad to be split up on walking tours around Oxford’s culturally soaked city centre. Students visited the Radcliffe Camera, part of the Bodleian Library, which is famous for, amongst other things, being a copyright library: this status entitling it to a copy of each book published in the UK, which means that it currently houses over 13 million books! The students’ favourite, however, was unquestionably the Christ Church tour, after finding out that Hogwarts School from the world renowned Harry Potter series based its design on the Christ Church main hall and surrounding buildings.
Upon return, the students completed the highly competitive ORA quiz night before gaining an early night for tomorrow’s further exploration of the city centre. More updates to follow.
