Celebrating the halfway mark of the students stays with us here at St Peter’s College in Oxford, the students fully engrossed themselves into the ‘Prehistoric’ themed party at St Catherine’s College. With the aid of Junior Deans and Counsellors, the students were transformed into cavemen and primeval beings.
Upon arrival at St Catherine’s College, there was a brilliant selection of mocktails to help students get into the party spirit, before they had the chance to meet and mingle with the students studying at Yarnton Manor and St Hugh’s College.
Students were able to battle it out on the gladiator trainer, using inflatable weapons to knock their opponent off their podium. Elsewhere, a Surf Simulator and Bucking Bronco provided laughter all evening as contenders stepped up and continually tried to post a new best time and beat their friends.
As the sun began to set, students were ushered into the ballroom, complete with prehistoric décor, DJ and an array of drinks and snacks to fuel the party. Although some students were a little apprehensive at the beginning, Counsellors encouraged and helped all the students to join in and by the end of the evening, everyone was dancing! The party went on late into the evening with their new friends from Yarnton Manor and St Hugh’s – definitely not a night to be forgotten in a hurry, with many students already discussing next weeks ‘Wizard’ themed party at St Peter’s College!
During the walk back after the party students shared their new fond memories of the evening’s antics. When the students arrived home, many quickly flopped into bed immediately without having to be told- and after a night on the dance floor, we can’t blame them. Tomorrow, there’s another adventure: a trip to Warner Brother’s Studios Harry Potter Tour has got many students very excited!
