Yesterday brought with it a multitude of different emotions and experiences, as students attended their last lessons, received their graduation scrolls in a moving ceremony, and brought everything together with a true celebration, carnivale-style, in St Peter’s College.
At the graduation ceremony in St Hugh’s bright and airy halls, Programme Director Costa offered heartfelt and inspiring words to the students he had led and got to know over the past two weeks. His Junior Deans also spoke of some of the highlights of the session, praising students’ warmth and openness with one another, and remarking on their immense spirit of fun. Students were all presented with graduation scrolls, with some singled out for particular effort and achievement in their chosen courses.
After this formal celebration of students’ hard work and bonds of fellowship, all made their way across town to St Peter’s College, where the carnival had come to town. Students revelled in the festive atmosphere, admiring the sprays of colourful foliage that adorned the St Peter’s marquee, along with the sterling efforts of the Counsellors and Junior Deans in donning carnivalesque head-dresses and spangly garments. Students enjoyed dancing late into the evening, spirits buoyed by memories of the weeks gone by, the promise of ever-lasting friendship, and the many sweet treats on offer.
