What did the first week of ORA in St Hugh’s hold? Discussions of some of the most pressing issues facing the work of medics, entrepreneurs and leaders the world over; tours around the historic sights of the city of Oxford; improvisation and coding masterclasses; and a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park to learn more about some of our fellow creatures. Now at the end of the week, students were ready to crank things up a notch and enter the world of the supernatural, with a Wizard School-themed jamboree with their fellow ORA-ers in St Peter’s College.
Under the banners of the Hogwarts houses, students jousted, putted some holes, and rode the magic carpet in the style of their magical counterparts. Some tried their luck on Platform 9¾, whilst others took a moment of repose before the fire in Dumbledore’s study. Students drank Butterbeer and popped Bertie Bott’ses, as they fuelled up for a night on the dancefloor. For that was everyone’s ultimate destination, and as the sun set over St Peter’s College, students descended upon the marquee, and there they proceeded to dance the evening away―boogieing down like a unicorn, grooving around like a scary ghost, and putting their hands up in the air like an ogre who, actually, does not care.
