Welcome to St Hugh’s College, where the whole ORA team is looking forward to greeting students later today. In the two weeks ahead, students will be gaining introductions to Enterprise, Leadership, and Medicine, as well as specialised English tuition —and there is truly no more fitting place in which to learn new skills than St Hugh’s, given the college’s proud and particular history (founded in 1886 to provide an Oxford education to women), and continuing innovative and progressive culture.
Incoming students are about to embark on a unique summer experience at St Hugh’s, learning alongside a diverse group of classmates and under the guidance of a dynamic, passionate team of teachers. And even beyond the classroom, there are opportunities to learn and be inspired, as our friendly and supportive squad of House Deans and Counsellors will lead students in a fantastic array of excursions and social activities.
On the agenda for Session 5: a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park, to peek at animals big and small, local and exotic; tours around the historical city of Oxford, taking in such sights as Christ Church, the Oxford Castle, and two world-class museums in the form of the Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers; taking a guided tour around Warner Bros. Studios, where they filmed Harry Potter; and punting along Oxford’s winding waterways. Mid-session and graduation parties (with themes of Wizard School and Carnivale respectively) will allow students to unwind after the week’s classes, and celebrate with their newfound friends.
If you want to keep an eye on all the exciting things we’ll be up to at St Hugh’s over the coming weeks, make sure to bookmark this blog —we will be posting all the latest news, highlights, photos and videos here each day. It’s going to be a fantastic couple of weeks, and you really won’t want to miss a thing.
