Yesterday was graduation day, which brought with it a grand ceremony in the St Hugh’s auditorium. Programme Director Costa delivered an inspiring speech that even uplifted the spirits of those sad to be leaving, and presented each student with a graduation scroll. Particular effort and achievement in classes was recognised with special awards.
Already in their glad rags, students headed to the St Hugh’s dining hall, where they were treated to a sumptuous three course dinner. They passed stories back and forth across the table, and raised a glass (of water) to their new friends and the times they had shared together.
Thoroughly sated, they headed over to St Peter’s College, another ORA campus, where Wizard School was in session. Counsellors were dressed up on Harry Potter-style cloaks, and a sorting hat stood ready to find the next heroes and heroines of Hogwarts. Students rode the magic carpet and tried their luck on Platform 9¾; and it was as if a spell of everlasting friendship had been cast over the cohort, as they vowed to reunite and continue the ORA adventure.
To round off a fantastic evening and a memorable two weeks, Junior Dean Fred made a goodbye speech to students back in St Hugh’s during evening shout. He put an end to speculation by announcing the winner of the talent show ―it was Rose, for her peerless pirouettes. Then it was off to bed for students, some of whom have travels across air, land and sea in store for them today!
