Welcome to Lady Margaret Hall, where we’re all eagerly awaiting the arrival of students and parents this afternoon. Incoming students are about to embark on a unique summer experience with Oxford Royale Academy, in a truly inspiring and remarkable setting within Oxford.
Lady Margaret Hall (or LMH, for brevity’s sake), was founded in 1879 and the first college opened expressly for the education of women. Among its distinguished and pioneering alumnae are the founder of Save the Children, Eglantyne Jebb, and Dame Josephine Barnes, the first female president of the British Medical Association. The college continues to take a progressive and inclusive approach to academia, under the leadership of the current Principal, the former editor-in-chief at the Guardian newspaper, Alan Rusbridger.
Within the walls of LMH, themselves within 12 acres of charming, calming grounds by the River Cherwell, students will be guided, challenged and inspired by our world-class team of teachers as they take the first steps towards study and careers in Architecture, Computer Science, Engineering, Law and Medicine.
Then, when lessons are done each day, our friendly and supportive squad of Junior Deans and Counsellors will lead students in a fantastic range of excursions and social activities. Particular events to look forward to this session are trips to the WB Studios for the Harry Potter tour, an escape to the country for a day in the Cotswolds Wildlife Park, and tours around the historic city of Oxford, where students will take in its storied history, impressive architecture, and perhaps consider their own roles in its future. Mid-session and graduation parties (with themes of Wizard School and Vintage Circus respectively) will allow students to unwind after the week’s classes, and celebrate with their newfound friends.
If you want to keep an eye on all the exciting things we’ll be up to at LMH over the coming weeks make sure to bookmark this blog as we will be posting all the latest news, highlights, photos and videos each day. It’s going to be a fantastic couple of weeks, and you really won’t want to miss a thing.
