Students staying at Goodenough College furthered their university preparations yesterday as they welcomed in a guest lecturer to provide valuable insight of what life is really like at a top UK university. The speaker guided students through the ins and outs of independent living, from budgeting finances to balancing workloads. The talk also featured a Q&A section, enabling the students to find out more specific details of university life in the UK. Hopefully, the experience seems a lot less daunting after today!
Our engineering students had a major breakthrough in the classroom today, completing their model, self-guiding robots. After much deliberation and research, the completed robots were programmed to travel through a set obstacle course. The students have worked tremendously hard, and seeing their designed product fully functioning and working efficiently gave the students a real buzz.
After a busy day of lessons and afternoon workshops, the Counsellors led the students to the Hamsworth Memorial Playground for some basketball action. Unfortunately, classic British weather delayed play and the students were forced to dash back to the College to avoid the torrential downpour. Instead, the counsellors laid on a movie night in the Large Common Room, keeping everyone happy, warm and dry.
The students are immensely excited for tomorrow evenings VIP trip to Madame Tussauds for dinner, more updates on how they got on to follow.
