After a highly proactive day of learning yesterday, the students were very excited for their London excursion to visit Covent Garden, followed by a trip to the West End to see the hit musical Wicked.
Gregory Maguire’s acclaimed 1995 novel, ‘Wicked: The life and times of the wicked witch of the west’, reimagines the Land of Oz, this time not from Dorothy’s side. The musical instead creates a parallel universe following the untold story of two young students at sorcery school, one remaining true and virtuous practising witchcraft for the good of others, whilst the other becomes ‘wicked’. The production has been acclaimed a modern classic and is already the 17th longest running show in London theatre history, having been running for over 10 years with over 7.5 million spectators in total! The students fell in love with the stunning creativity, bright lights and fantastic, catchy soundtracks.
Students recounted their favourite moments and re-watched their favourite moments online, trying to learn some of the incredible songs. Students got a few more final rehearsals in when they arrived back at Goodenough, ahead of the ORA’s Got Talent performances tomorrow evening, always a highlight of every session.
