Students of Goodenough College have just completed their first day of lessons. Students really engaged in class, throwing themselves into their chosen subject field with great enthusiasm. As a relatively small group, the students are really enjoying the high levels of attention from teachers in their small class sizes.
Yuri Hung is the course leader for ‘Business and Enterprise’. Yuri introduced the students to the ‘Dragons Den’ TV show and informed them that they would be performing a business pitch of their own next week. ‘Engineering preparation’ is being run by Bowen Cao, who is conducting a thorough breakdown of what to expect when undertaking an Engineering degree, whilst also introducing some of the potential topics. Finally, Osumary Oyowe heads up the ‘Medical School Preparation’ programme. Osumary briefed the students on how to ace their interviews and going into great depths of life as a trainee and junior doctor.
After familiarising themselves with their teachers and completing their first day of lessons, the students excitedly geared up to hit the town on the walking tour of London. The walking tour primarily focused around Westminster and St James’, highlights included Buckingham Palace where they were able to witness the changing of the guard, Houses of Parliament (where they gave a wave to Big Ben), and Westminster Abbey. Many students were left astounded by the gorgeous architecture steeped in history.
After a proactive day, the students returned to Goodenough ready to battle it out in Quiz Night, always a highly competitive affair in addition to celebrating Luis’ 18th Birthday last night―certainly a birthday he won’t forget! Tomorrow the students venture out again into the city to visit The British Museum. More updates to follow.
