With last night’s antics still in the forefront of their minds, the students studying at Goodenough College embarked on another adventure, to visit the 16th Century Hampton Court Palace in London.
The palace was originally built to house Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, a favorite of King Henry VIII. However, when Wolsey fell from favor, Henry seized the palace for himself and later enlarged it.
Students discovered the magnificence of Henry’s favorite royal residents. Immersing themselves in the sights and sounds of the bustling Base Court and marveled at the breath-taking grandeur of Henry’s State Rooms. Students tickled their taste buds in the vast Tudor kitchens, said to have produced over a thousand meals a day!
After lunch in the superb weather, students strolled around the sixty acres of enchanted gardens and found themselves lost in the famous maze!
Once back in Goodenough there was still energy in the tank for the group to go out for an evening game of football. A great amount of skill and cooperation was demonstrated throughout. Although tempers rose occasionally about the legitimacy of the odd free kick or corner, the counselors were generally impressed at the students in refereeing their own game together. For the students that didn’t want to venture out to play football, there were evening activities run by the counselors such as card games and homework club.
After a day of sun, fun and cultural exploration, students were ready to rest up ahead of tomorrow Oracle talks! More updates to follow!
