Cambridge. Seat of highest learning. Seat of (almost) highest royalty. Seat of— high seats; some of those ones in King’s Chapel are really quite enormous. And now, for the next two weeks, seat of ORA’s students, who will be learning to love the city from their base in Clare College. A blend of cobbled streets, golden colleges, long stretches of water perfect for punting, and secluded cloisters paired with grand quads, Cambridge is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Of all its qualities, its beauty is matched only, perhaps, by the quality of its learning.
We at ORA can’t wait for this fine tradition to be continued over this fortnight. Welcome to Cambridge for ORA 2017! The next two weeks will be a flurry of new friendships, exploration of the winding lanes, and discussion between people who care about and love their subjects. When they’re not delving deeper into their chosen areas –students at Cambridge this session will be taking lessons in law, medicine, business and much else— students will be able to enjoy excursions to a safari park, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s blockbusting musical The Phantom of the Opera, and punting sessions along the River Cam. It seems very likely that students will be collapsing into their beds at the end of each day— the week holds a lot, and we hope that they’re looking forward to it as much as we are.
