Yesterday the students jumped headfirst back into their academic curriculum rejuvenated and refreshed after their brilliant weekend of fun and festivities. Having their time to recharge was essential as this week is even busier! Business students had the opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament in the morning, off at the crack of dawn to join on the full Palace of Westminster tour in London. Students gained full access to and tour around the remarkable chambers, where UK parliamentary members scrutinise bills and debate new and existing laws. The Houses of Parliament are situated on the north bank of the River Thames; students were able to view other famous sites such as the London Eye and Westminster Bridge.
After lessons and afternoon workshops, students had a wide variety of options to choose from. One group opted for a cultural evening at Wadham College where they watched William Shakespeare’s play, ‘Much Ado About Nothing’, at the outdoor theatre. Many of the students had yet to experience Shakespeare’s work, leaving many marvelling at the incredible prose and verse in the stunning setting of Wadham College main quad. Other students opted to stay in and experience Zoolab if they missed it last time, being able to hold lizards, skunks, snakes and meerkats – a very unique experience. The counsellors also organised a football tournament against Queen’s College students at the University Parks. DJ Dave ran a music workshop, teaching students the methods of mixing two songs and how to set up amplifiers and speaker systems. The students also got to learn the basics lessons of song production, creating simple beats and melodies.
