To mark the halfway mark of the student’s stay with us here at Balliol College Oxford, the students fully engrossed themselves into the ‘Narnia’ themed party. CS Lewis, an Oxford academic, wrote ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ books and entertained thousands of children around the globe!
It was rumoured that Aslan himself may be making an appearance this evening, so students set about ensuring they looked their best. Students then voyaged to the stunning Kingston Bagpuise stately home, short bus ride away from the city centre where the party would take place. Upon arrival, there was an incredible selection of elaborate soft drinks to help students into the party spirit. Students mingled effortlessly with the students studying at Queen’s, Yarnton Manor and St Catherine’s Colleges. A Surf Simulator and Bucking Bronco provided laughter all evening as contenders continually tried to post a new best time and beat their friends!
As the sun began to set, students were encouraged to move into the ballroom, complete with Narnia décor (including Aslan), DJ and tasty snacks. Although some students were a little hesitant at the beginning, Counsellors reassured all the students to join in and by the end of the evening, everyone was dancing! Students bopped and boogied late into the evening with their peers at St Peter’s and new friends made from Queen’s, Yarnton Manor and St Catherine’s. Definitely not a night to be forgotten in a hurry, with many students already discussing hosting next weeks ‘Vintage Circus’ themed party at Balliol College.
Tomorrow the students are travelling to the incredible Windsor Castle. So after a long and exhilarating day, the students were keen to rest up ahead of the trip and flopped into bed straight away upon return to Balliol.
