Today marked the beginning of the students’ academic experience at Oxford Royale Academy. The Business and Enterprise programme lectures this morning were held in the Oxford City Hall, allowing students to get their first proper walk through the city centre on their way to and from class. These students were also introduced to the ‘Dragons Den’ style pitch assessment they would be completing in just over a weeks’ time. The Film Academy students had an introductory seminar on script writing, preparing them to begin work on their own film over the two-week session. Architecture Preparation programme began warming up their sketching by drawing the items in each other’s pockets, a simple but very effective method of warming up the student’s still life drawing.
After the workshops were finished, and the day’s academic commitment’s fulfilled, the students had free time. Many of the students conscientiously took themselves on tours of the natural history museum, whilst others roamed the narrow Oxford cobbled streets soaking in their new surroundings.
The evening activity was the ORA Quiz Night, featuring rounds on History, Geography and Harry Potter. The students did extremely well, posting some excellent scores, but it was ‘The Smarties’ who took home the victory. Carrie, Katya, Klara, Sigridur and Irmak performed excellently and collected their sweet prize very graciously.
