Students participating in our Robotics Course have been having an incredibly exciting time over the last couple of weeks. The course has presented a series of curious, captivating and challenging lessons, all of which have kept our pupils extremely busy with learning new information.
Alongside being taught programming languages such as Python, pupils on this course have been improving their ability to navigate challenging mazes using robotic cars that they programmed themselves.
These robotic cars were hooked up to computers as students tested their newfound knowledge and tried to effectively edit a code to aid the vehicles in navigating a maze. With a series of modifications, trials and more edits, the cars were programmed to navigate the complex maze that other members of the class had been busy constructing using feedback from the car trials.
Finally, the programming was complete and the maze was ready for the thrilling race to start. Some students used Bluetooth apps on their phones to drive the cars, whilst others used remote controls. The race was exciting and it was amazing to see how successfully the pupils had programmed their vehicles. The attention to detail was exceptional and, though the maze was somewhat destroyed by the end, the race was a huge success.
Below you can see an amazing video made by the students on the course. Julie, Haya, Charlotte, Dounia, Youssef, Ryan, Michele, Charles, Lenah and their teacher Bankole worked together to edit, film and produce this film of their incredible efforts and we couldn’t be prouder of them!
