As we reached mid-week yesterday at Yarnton, there was a very relaxed atmosphere amongst the students. With everyone feeling comfortable with their classes and classmates, the morning’s lessons breezed by, giving way to lunch and some free time to study or play table tennis in the sunshine.
In the afternoon, our older students were able to head back out into Oxford city centre to explore the sights or do a bit of shopping. While they were there, lots of students took advantage of the warm weather to grab some ice cream or a milkshake in one of Oxford’s cafes.
For dinner, everyone headed back to campus – and with good reason: a food truck was visiting Yarnton! The Wild Oven pizza truck rolled up in front of the manor, giving students the chance to choose their own pizza flavours and then watch as their dinner was cooked right in front of them.
Personal pizzas in hand, the students spread out across the grass with their friends for a relaxed, chatty meal. It made for a delicious evening, with lots of students heading back for seconds or splitting pizzas between their friends so they could try as many different kinds of pizza as possible. In fact, the students loved it so much that the truck will be returning next Wednesday!
Even with so much delicious pizza on offer, everyone was careful to leave plenty of room for dessert. Lots of them had opted to take part in a cupcake-decorating workshop that evening and, of course, eating their creations was just as much fun as making them!
For anyone feeling a little too restless for cupcakes, a game of football kicked off on the back field in the last light before bed.
