Graduation day has arrived! The fast-approaching ceremony was the only thing on the students’ minds as they devoured their breakfasts yesterday.
Lessons, too, were dominated by excitement for the afternoon and in recognition of this, lots of the teachers had planned special, more fun activities for the last day. Our Introduction to Architecture class put their heads together, pooling their collective knowledge to design and build their own city. It was a great culmination of all the students’ hard work over the session and everyone was very proud of their creation.
As the last lesson ended, the students waved goodbye to their teachers with a touch of sadness – there have been some really great mentor-student relationships built this session!
After lunch, party preparation took over as the students helped decorate the Simpkin’s Lecture Theatre and then raced off to their rooms to get changed into their best clothes.
Dressed to the nines, the students returned to the lecture theatre buzzing with excitement. After a brief but heartfelt speech from the programme director, the students were finally able to collect their scrolls like real university graduates. A few students even returned to the front later in the ceremony to collect special awards.
Once the ceremony was over, it was time for a specially-prepared dinner, and then the students were off to St Catherine’s College to meet up with the St Hugh’s and St Peter’s cohorts for a Hollywood themed party.
Arm in arm with friends, the students ended their final night in Oxford full of laughter, happiness, and good food.
