Finally for Friday! The last day of the week saw a special occasion for our students at Queen’s – GRADUATION. As the final day of the programme began, it was clear that everyone was excited for the evening’s festivities.
In the morning, the group were up bright and early and everyone seemed cheerful as they enjoyed their breakfast together. Then it was time for the final classes. With all of their homework and final presentations now completed and handed in, students looked forward to fun lessons.
The teachers had treated everyone to a few fun workshops as a reward for all their hard work during their stay which was a welcome treat for the cohort. Once their final lessons were over lunchtime called, but before they headed to the dining hall they said a long goodbye to their teachers and the atmosphere changed a little as the sadness of the occasion began to dawn on the group.
Following lunch, there were party preparations. As the campus staff worked hard to get college looking its best, the students retreated to their rooms to get into their formal clothes. The ceremony was formal as usual and held in the beautiful chapel on campus. Students accepted their scrolls and to those who had truly excelled in their subjects, there were special awards for achievement and effort.
Once the ceremony ended, the group were treated to a three course meal in the dining hall. There were plenty of photo-taking opportunities and even some speeches! Finally, the group headed off to the Town Hall to enjoy a party and disco with our other Oxford colleges. There were a few tears at the end of the night, as everyone said goodbye to their new friends keen to reconvene back in Oxford for another spectacular experience in Summer 2020.
