Anticipation was in the air at St Peter’s yesterday from the moment the students woke up. Graduation day had finally arrived and it was all the students could talk about as they ate their full English breakfasts. When everyone at last headed off to their classes, there was a definite spring in their steps.
For our Film Academy students, the last lessons of the session were as important as all the ones that had come before. It was the students final chance to edit and polish up their short films before they would be shown at graduation that afternoon. While there was a little nervousness as the group hurried to put finishing touches to their projects, the predominant feeling was one of pride as the students finally saw all their work come together.
As the students left their classes, they said heartfelt thank you’s to all their teachers for the hard work they’ve put in over the last two weeks. For the teachers’ part, they wished their students the best of luck in the future and promised to cheer for them at graduation.
Lunch and party preparation was over in a flash, and then the time had come at last for them to make their way to the chapel for their graduation ceremony. It was a very proud moment for all the staff as the students came up one by one to collect their scrolls, leaving everyone feeling emotional in the best way.
In a rush, everyone scurried to take as many photos with their friends as they could before dinner was ready. As it was graduation day, the meal was a suitably grand affair, filled from beginning to end with warmth and happiness.
To close the evening, the cohort headed off to St Catherine’s College to dance the evening away at a Hollywood themed party. Joined by our St Hugh’s and Lady Margaret Hall cohorts, the students ended their session living it up like real Hollywood stars.
