A wet Wednesday in Oxford could do nothing to dampen the spirits of the St Catherine’s cohort, as they continued in their relentless pursuit of knowledge on another day of dedication at Catz! As well as their lessons, an evening talk offered them a chance to learn about some different ideologies and draw some interesting conclusions.
The rain which rolled in whilst the students were asleep meant that they woke up to a drizzly scene. Despite this, they carried lots of enthusiasm into their classes, as they followed breakfast up with a morning of sterling effort.
More of the same followed after lunch, as the students squeeze every last drop of information out of their academic sessions before the conclusion of the programme. After their classes, there was some free time for everyone to enjoy. The rain had continued throughout the day, but the students never missed a beat as they traded outdoor plans for indoor ones, happily chatting or doing work in groups.
The evening also presented them with an opportunity to attend a talk held by Patrick, one of the Junior Deans. He spoke about the future of Capitalism, and provided information on some of the richest individuals throughout history.
Everyone found the talk engaging, and the group were able to draw some fascinating conclusions about the global economy and how it may function better. As they have done throughout the programme, the students made contributions which showed understanding and maturity. This bodes well for their futures, and perhaps one day they may even be in a position to put their ideas into action!
