After their weekend off, the students were all bright-eyed and eager to learn when they came down to breakfast yesterday morning. As the students ate some toast, they chatted happily about who would have the most interesting morning of lessons.
As classes took off, it turned out the answer was the Introduction to Leadership class! The students have a model United Nations summit scheduled over yesterday and today, giving them a chance to perfect their public speaking skills and get some experience of what it’s like being a real world leader.
As the model UNs often discuss real issues that have been put before the United Nations for deliberation, our students had to really stretch their diplomacy skills during the debate. Luckily, they all performed excellently and the teachers were very impressed.
The afternoon provided a chance to kick back and relax after a busy Monday morning as the students walked into Oxford for some punting. Most of the students had never tried the traditional Oxfordian activity before and were surprised by just how peaceful and relaxing their trip down the river was. A few students even grew comfortable enough to stand up on the boat and try out pushing it along for themselves!
Once everyone had returned to Hugh’s, an evening of karaoke swept the students away. It turns out we have some incredibly gifted singers amongst the cohort who we look forward to hearing again at our talent show. Of course, no karaoke session would be complete without a few cheesy songs mixed in too to send everyone off to bed with a laugh.
