There were grand plans in place for our Lady Margaret students yesterday. Since everyone had been getting on so well with the St Hugh’s cohort, the counsellors had organised a sports day between the two colleges.
Though registration was running later yesterday, quite a few students were up early to make progress on presentations and group work before the sports day got started later in the morning. Once everyone was up and had tucked into some breakfast, it was time to venture out to the university parks for the showdown with Hugh’s.
For the events there was a full range of classic British races and activities from the slightly unusual bean bag balancing race to the outright bizarre wellie wanging contest. It’s safe to say most of our students had never tried the latter before! The strange assortment of races caused plenty of laughter between the two cohorts and even though our students didn’t walk away with victory, everyone had loved the day.
Before heading back to Lady Margaret’s, the students made plans with the Hugh’s cohort to return for games of football over the next week to try and even the score.
For the rest of the afternoon, homework was once again the main focus on our students minds and those who hadn’t been up early in the morning gathered together to finish their work.
To relax in the evening, our students headed out to the cinema in Oxford’s Westgate centre to watch Spiderman Far From Home. It was a great opportunity to chill out and unwind after such an active day and all our students returned to campus thoroughly wowed by the movie.
