The first week at Merton has now come to an end. And what a week it’s been! The students on our 19 + programmes have settled in well, and have really enjoyed getting to know this academically renowned city a little better.
Saturday saw a chance for a celebration of the first week here, with the prospect of a delicious meal out as a group at Malmaison. Students woke a little later for the start of the weekend, but before long they were in the dining hall chatting about the day ahead of them.
After discussing their plans for the day, lots of the students set off into the centre of town to enjoy the city sights and shops. Although Saturday was a little rainy, it didn’t dampen their spirits and everyone was eager to take home a souvenir as a memento for their stay here. The Covered Market was a popular choice as the group enjoyed the local wares, picking up a few trinkets on their way through.
The group reconvened at college in the afternoon and although some of them were a little wet, everyone was looking forward to their meal in the evening. Before they set off, there was time to squeeze in some study, as everyone got to work on their homework. Then everyone got changed into something a little more suitable as they headed to the restaurant.
The meal was the perfect opportunity for the group to share some of their favourite experiences of the past week. Everyone reflected on their stay so far, and it’s safe to say that they all concluded that they’ve learnt a lot!
