With a trip to London on the cards yesterday, it’s no surprise our students had more energy than ever as they chattered over breakfast. By the time the plates were cleared away, the students were more than ready to get moving, rushing upstairs to gather coats and cameras in record time. After a quick extra stop to pick up a packed lunch, the students were on the bus and headed for England’s capital city.
Luckily traffic was good and it didn’t take too long before the students were stepping off the coach again onto the pavement of London. It was a short walk from where the coach had dropped them off to their first stop – Madame Tussaud’s! Our students split off into groups to search out waxworks of their favourite celebrities and take as many pictures as possible. Complete with interactive Marvel and Star Wars experiences, the students spent the morning making the best of their time with the stars!
After lunch, the students made their way through London to their second destination, the Houses of Parliament, snapping as many photos as they could of iconic London landmarks and objects. The Palace of Westminster itself (the official name of the Houses of Parliament) and the nearby London Eye of course provided excellent selfie opportunities!
Seeing the houses sparked some fierce discussion amongst the more political of our students on the way back to Oxford, especially considering the recent change of Prime Minister in the UK. Though there were plenty of different opinions being thrown around, our cohort are good enough friends by now that they were able to respect each other’s views no matter how different from their own.
Everyone headed to bed tired after a long day in London and looking forward to a day of free time tomorrow!
