It was a vibrant day for our students in Oxford and with the weekend fast approaching, there was certainly excitement in the air on campus in the morning. Students enjoyed their usual breakfast before heading into class to enjoy another intellectually stimulating day.
Lessons are now in full swing, and they were certainly active for our students studying on Acting and Performance. The students worked in teams as their teacher provided them with new scenarios to improvise. For example, they had to act as if one friend was leaving and they were trying to stop them, or that they were trapped in a room with the walls closing in.
In these activities their focus was on physical theatre, as they used their bodies to display the emotions and situations of their characters. However, it was also a good way to think about their facial expressions, and how the face can make a huge impact on the audience.
When 3:30 hit, everyone was free from classes and they headed to the office to sign up for a range of different activities in the evening. Karaoke and a talent show were perhaps the most popular and groups signed up together, thinking of an act to put on later in the evening. Sports, as usual at Queen’s, were also a hit, and despite the rainy weather, the footballers headed out for a match.
It was a great way to start the weekend, and all of the students were exuding energy. Friday certainly acted as good warm up for the ORA Olympics on Saturday morning!
