Friday was a joyous day for the students at St Catherine’s, as they welcomed in the middle weekend with a brilliant evening of singing, dancing all sorts of other talents! After completing their first week of lessons, spirits were high and the party mood was well and truly in effect.
The morning and afternoon lessons were as important as ever, with no lessons until the start of week two, and so the teachers were keen that for the students to keep the intensity up. Those in Global Leadership were debating the issue of free speech online – a very topical discussion point! Not only did they work as hard as they have been, but they seemed to be even more eager to end the week’s classes on a high – which the staff were very appreciative of!
Once the lessons were out of the way, the weekend could well and truly begin. There was a quick trip to the Natural History museum which the students thoroughly enjoyed and as the first week ended they gave themselves a deserved pat on the back for coming through their courses in such impressive style, and over a tasty dinner there was a satisfied air to the conversation.
The evening event was one which not only raised a lot of smiles, but also raised the roof as the students displayed a wide range of amazing talents. They wowed the audience with their dancing, had them clapping along as they sang and rolling in the aisles with some of the other performances. It was an enjoyable evening all round.
The weekend plans include lots of activity, and a test of the students’ academic minds, as well as a whole lot of fun. They may be out of lessons for a couple of days, but there are plenty of things in Oxford for them to fill the time with!
