Yesterday was a day for grand ideas at Lady Margaret’s. As it was a Friday, the students were buzzing with excitement throughout breakfast and they carried an air of warmth with them into their morning classes.
It was a good thing the students were filled with energy because their teachers had created some fun but challenging activities for the last classes of the week. For our Introduction to Architecture class, they had the chance to put everything they’ve learned together in a model making workshop.
Though they were only small models made of materials like lollipop sticks, our students all took to the task with excellent precision and enthusiasm. When they had a chance to present their models later in the day, it was clear everyone was rightfully proud of their creations!
Meanwhile our Introduction to Engineering students had a similarly creative morning, but with a more competitive element. Through the morning, the students took part in a design contest; first they devised professional-style proposals, then, after feedback, they constructed and tested their designs. It was a great experience of what they’ll face in the work world as engineers and each student created something well worth first place.
For their evening activities the students joined together with their friends in the St. Hugh’s contingent for a Hawaii-themed party! Accompanied by music from their home countries and some old British classics, the students danced the last of their first week away. It’s safe to say everyone was feeling good as they made their way to bed that night.
