Tuesday was a day of masterclasses and master passes for our Balliol students, as they tackled challenges as well as an evening football match! A series of challenging tasks brought them together with some fellow Oxford campuses and tested their problem-solving and teamwork skills.
The students ate breakfast and then had their morning lessons as usual, continuing their excellent progress from Monday and looking bright and attentive throughout their classes. This was followed by lunch, before they headed over to St Catherine’s to meet with the students there, as well as those from Queen’s.
Once there, everyone mixed together well, as the students embraced the first of many chances to make friends from some of the other Oxford colleges. The purpose of their visit was to take part in some exciting masterclasses, and they quickly split off into their groups.
One group took on the Stock Market Challenge, where they aimed to buy and sell their way to Wall Street style success! The other group looked into the world of forensics, with the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation class. They tried to solve a murder mystery using professional techniques. The afternoon was a lot of fun and the students took a lot away from it.
Football was the theme of the evening, as the students squeezed in a competitive 3-3 draw just before the heavens opened, which was excellent timing! Overall the day was a fruitful and highly enjoyable one, and the campus spirits are high as they head into Wednesday.
