Tuesday was a day for sharpening skills over at Hugh’s. After more introductory lessons yesterday, our students were really getting to the heart of their different courses today. Despite this meaning the introduction of some tricky concepts, all our students approached the challenges of the day with positivity and tenacity, really impressing their teachers!
The students had a break to stretch their legs and grab some lunch before joining our Lady Margeret’s students for some masterclasses.
On the table were Soap Science, CSI, and a public speaking workshop led by actress Rachel Mae Brady. All three options had plenty of students sign up, but the CSI workshop proved the most popular amongst the cohort!
With a collection of clues and evidence spread out for the students to investigate, the cohort got to step into the shoes of a real forensics investigator and see how they would handle being at a crime scene. It was a great test of the students’ attention to detail and everyone loved suiting up like a fully-fledged professional.
As our counsellors have a wealth of wonderful information to share with the students, the early evening was spent with a fun session for the students to get know their counsellors better. Not only did it help our students figure out which counsellors might be able to help them academically, it also did a great job of easing any remaining nervousness amongst the cohort.
The remaining time before bed was spent in the university parks finding out which of the cohort was the best footballer or frisbee-thrower, or gathered around tables making friendship bracelets for new friends!
