Lessons were well underway for our students at Merton. As the group headed into Tuesday, they seemed more settled, and in classes their confidence was building as they challenged one another a little more.
The day started with the usual breakfast, before the group set off for their classes. After an introductory day on Monday, it was time to really start getting their teeth stuck into their lessons.
Those studying on International Medical Research and Practice started with learning a key skill for any medic, using a stethoscope. It was a good way to put their theory into practice and also helped them to start making better friends, as they got into pairs to try it out on their partners. In Public Speaking for the Modern World and Workplace students were getting to grips with body language and projecting their voices. There were a few fairly heated discussions, which suggests we certainly have some passionate speech makers among us.
Following their lessons, they participated in a Pub Quiz with the counsellors at Merton – a very fun way of bonding! There is definitely an excellent level of general knowledge amongst these students, and it was great to see counsellors and students alike getting competitive!
After an interactive early evening, students were escorted by our campus staff to the Varsity Rooftop Bar in Oxford to relax. Despite a bit of breezy weather, it was a good way to admire the city’s renowned architecture. The group chatted over mocktails and cocktails before heading back to college for bed.
