Though the sky was a little grey yesterday, the students were too excited by the day ahead to notice much! The novelty of their new classes and surroundings hadn’t worn off yet and our students flew through the morning lessons with as much enthusiasm as they did on Monday.
For the afternoon’s masterclasses, the students headed over to St Hugh’s College to join together with another of our 13 – 15 cohorts. Though some students in both cohorts were a little nervous at first, as the group activities in the masterclass began, everyone began tentatively chatting and soon there were some promising friendships taking root!
Together the cohorts had the choice of masterclasses in CSI, Soap Science and Public Speaking. The Soap Science was definitely the most laughter-filled of the classes as everyone enjoyed getting quite literally stuck into some soap-making. Elsewhere, brave students stood up in front of their new friends to polish their public speaking, or proved they had an eye for details at a fake crime scene!
After such a fun day spent together, it’s hardly surprising the students were sad to leave the Hugh’s cohort and a lot of phone numbers were exchanged before our students headed back to LMH.
For the evening, our students could either indulge their creative spirits in some banner making or head out to the university parks to play a quintessentially British sport: cricket. Some of the cohort showed real promise and the game became quite competitive in the last light of the evening. We’ll have to keep an eye out for any rematches in the next few days!
