Yesterday marked the start of our cohort’s first lessons here at Hugh’s! Sticking by their new friends, the students came down to breakfast with a blend of nervousness and anticipation. One delicious full English breakfast later and it was time to head to classes.
As it was the first day, there were a few, more academic, icebreaker activities to help the students get to know their new classmates and then it was straight on to business – quite literally for our Introduction to Enterprise students. Their course is aimed at helping them sharpen all the necessary skills to be an excellent business owner, and they wasted no time at all getting started with a lesson on how to think like an entrepreneur.
Once their first busy morning was over, it was time for a bit of lunch and some more fierce badminton matches out on the grass before their equally busy afternoon kicked off.
As most of our cohort has never visited Oxford before, the counsellors had organised a guided tour of the city to help them get their bearings and to give them a look at some of the city’s amazing sights! From the Bridge of Sighs to the Radcliffe Camera, the tour covered all of the best tourist hotspots the city has to offer and it certainly impressed our cohort!
To see how much our group remembered from their tour, the counsellors sprung a surprise ‘History of Oxford’ round on them in the evening’s quiz. Luckily, all the teams aced that round!
After the scores had been totted up and the winners announced as team All In, there was some free time for more sports and then the students headed off to bed looking forward to masterclasses tomorrow.
