As students at St Edmund’s near the end of their first week here in Cambridge, it is great to have seen knowledge grow, friendships fledge and perspectives widen.
Everyone headed into Thursday with a good attitude and there was a great atmosphere in the air in Cambridge. With the prospect of some lovely sunshine at the weekend, all of the students were in excellent spirits and had high hopes.
The morning began in the usual fashion, and the breakfast hall was cheerful as ever as students discussed the day ahead of them. Once they had finished they meal, the cohort set off for classes, intent on absorbing as much information as possible. With nearly a week of lessons under the belt, students are now being encouraged to think a little more outside of the box. Teachers have set everyone some tough challenges in the form of homework to do over the weekend, and our counsellors and junior deans are ready to support them with their work.
Following lessons of the day, there was a chance for some downtime and to spend the evening together as a big group. With the sun in the sky, the students rushed into the grounds to play some sports and enjoy the grounds at Eddie’s.
The group chose between table tennis, volleyball and of course football, which all became a little competitive. Football saw a tight match, but in the end one half of the group succeeded in scoring a few more goals and took the lead. After their activities, students were a little worn out, so they climbed into bed early to prepare themselves for the start of the weekend.
