With the prospect of trips out into Oxford to look forward to, our students were more concentrated than ever in their lessons, determined to absorb as much content as possible as fast as possible. Before long, classes were over and the students headed off to lunch.
For Tuesday’s excursions, students enjoyed a more personalised experience as they picked a location to visit from a list of Oxford tourist hotspots. Students visited Blenheim Palace, Oxford Castle or Christ Church to spend an afternoon soaking up some Oxford culture.
Amongst our cohort, the most popular choice was Christ Church. The building’s beautiful architecture and grounds have inspired people for generations, earning it quite a reputation on the big screen as the location for filming parts of Harry Potter and Alice in Wonderland. Our students were no less impressed, following in the footsteps of numerous great minds as they ventured through the church and gardens with their cameras at the ready. Luckily the weather held long enough for them to get back to St Peter’s!
With the showers of rain making sports outside a little difficult, the students settled for an indoor activity in the evening: yoga. The pattering of raindrops on the roof actually created quite a peaceful environment for our students, giving them a pleasant background hum to lose their worries in.
For the students who were eager to let their creative side loose, there was a friendship bracelet making workshop. There are so many strong friendships amongst the cohort and it’s great to see so many students wanting to create gifts for their friends. Filled with beads, laughter, and some light competition over who could make the best bracelet, the workshop was a wonderful way to spend the evening.
Our students went off to bed tired after their day of exploring and looking forward to another full day tomorrow!
