Our students were back to their usual timetables yesterday and after their weekend off everyone was brimming with energy and enthusiasm.
The morning’s lessons didn’t disappoint – the students are now at the mid-point of their programmes so they’re really getting stuck into the hearts of their respective courses.
Our Introduction to Robotics students had a particularly creative first day as they were putting together their own battery powered cars! There was a very concentrated atmosphere over the classroom as the students carefully tightened screws and tweaked the placement of wires. After they had finished building, they began to learn how to control them remotely – all of which will pay off later on in the week when the robots take on 3D mazes!
After a morning of hard work, our students turned detective for the afternoon! The staff had devised a scavenger hunt which would take our students all over Oxford city as they searched for all the objects on a list. It was a very close competition with students literally running to be the first ones back!
In the evening, the subject turned to university with a talk on how to apply to Oxbridge. Lots of our students are very forward-thinking and have already asked the staff about returning to Oxford as a university student, so this was an excellent chance to answer everyone’s questions. As always, the students’ engagement with the talk was incredibly impressive and several left with very determined looks on their faces.
For the rest of the evening, the students chilled out with some sports in the university parks or unleashed their creative spirit in a flower crown workshop before heading to bed.
