Sunday morning started off as a quiet one at Hugh’s. A few early birds were downstairs for breakfast at the usual time, but most took advantage of the later registration time to catch a few extra minutes of sleep. Those who were down early used the quiet to make progress on their homework.
As more students trickled down to breakfast, the informal homework club grew and the focus turned to completing group projects and presentations. It was wonderful to see all our students working together and eager to help each other, no matter which group or class they were in.
With the prospect of free time to encourage them, the students got their work finished in record time and found themselves with a completely free afternoon. Lots of students headed out into Oxford for lunch to try out some of the wonderful smelling cafes on the high street with their friends. Afterwards, the students set off on missions to find presents for their families back home or headed back down to the river for another ride in a punt.
Some of our more sporty students couldn’t stay away for long and came back to Hugh’s halfway through the afternoon to pick up Frisbees and footballs for games on the grass.
Back at Hugh’s in the evening, the weekend was finished off perfectly with a relaxed movie night so all the students could kick back and rest after their busy week.
The students went off to bed well-rested after their day off and eager to get back to lessons in the morning.
