What a day it was at St Catz yesterday. Throughout the morning, students were introduced to various different concepts, followed by a series of exhilarating activities in the afternoon.
The morning started with a flurry of lessons after an early start and a good breakfast. These were again focused on bringing students out of their shells somewhat, with one group focusing on team building exercises whilst another were designing posters to be presented in front of the whole class. These are just two ways to get students comfortable around their new peers, However, the most important factor is perhaps time, so hopefully we shall more progress in the coming days.
Later on, students escaped outside to bask in the sun. As the UK braces itself for its hottest temperature on record, the students will be sure to stay hydrated and cool down as often as possible. Lunch also provided a great opportunity for students to hang out and socialise. Many groups opted for the shade or simply the indoors due to the heat, however.
In the afternoon, it was time for everyone to de-stress and head out to see a film. Yesterday, it was the Disney Lion King remake. Other students made for the stunning Botanical Gardens, whilst those for whom the sun was simply too much opted to stay inside and play a foosball tournament! It was also the start of sign-ups for the Talent Show – something had piqued the interest of many. Perhaps we shall see some hidden abilities down the line!
