The students continued to enjoy the best of the British summer yesterday as the sun shone down brightly all day.
The Film Academy students are especially benefiting from the streak of good weather during their programme. Armed with the latest HD video cameras, professional microphones and lighting equipment, the students have spent the last few days staging practice shoots for their final projects. The wonderful sunshine means the students have a whole host more locations to shoot in and can really let their imaginations run free as they devise their projects!
In the afternoon, the students had the chance to head back into Oxford for the first time since their tour on Monday. There was so much enthusiasm for visiting the city again that the campus was virtually empty for the afternoon as the students hunted out their favourite spots in Oxford!
Once everyone had returned to campus and had some dinner, it was time to get creative! There were two creative workshops on today for the students to choose between: making their own tie-dye shirts or making their own friendship bracelets. In both workshops, it was wonderful to see the students so excited to make their own souvenirs or presents for their friends. We really do have some great friendships taking shape at Hugh’s this session!
Afterwards, the students tackled a very serious domestic task: laundry. In the wake of all the warm weather, lots of students had found themselves with a pile of washing and decided to turn the task of washing it into a learning experience! As our counsellors explained, it’s these kinds of everyday skills that will be invaluable to the students when the progress to university and adulthood.
Luckily there were no soapy disasters, and the students all headed to bed looking forward to another full day tomorrow and with a pile of clean clothes!
