Tuesday was a wonderful summer’s day at Hugh’s which put the students in a great mood as they came down to breakfast on their second day. Lessons breezed by without a hitch and soon it was time for an afternoon of masterclasses!
Our students had a whole host of options, from Soapscience to Chaos Coding, but the most popular choices proved to be the Fan Powered Car and Architecture classes. In both, the students had to call on their team working skills and push their imagination to its limits to create the best product.
At the end of the classes, each group’s car was pitted against the others in a nail-biting race while the architecture students pooled all their resources to see how high they could build before their structure became unstable.
In the afternoon, the counsellors opened up to the students about their academic experiences in a Q and A session. The students had been asking questions all week about their counsellors experiences at university, so this was a great opportunity to give everyone the answers they’d been craving. As our counsellors studied a wide range of subjects, from Medicine to Egyptology to English Literature, between them they managed to answer every question the students threw at them, no matter how difficult!
Once the students had exhausted every line of questioning, it was time for something a bit lighter: free time! Some of the students raced outside to relax in the evening sun or play some Frisbee and badminton. It’s great to see so many students coming together day after day to spend time together and it looks like there’ll be some strong friendships between the cohort by the time the session ends.
All in all, it was a great day here at Hugh’s and we look forward to another even sunnier day tomorrow!
