Our students were still brimming with the excitement of being in their new surroundings at breakfast yesterday morning. As they helped themselves to toast and cereal with their friends, they chattered away about which parts of Oxford they wanted to visit most when they had free time.
The cohort’s enthusiasm made lessons fly by and before they knew it, it was time for lunch and an afternoon of masterclasses in subjects like Architecture and Marketing. One of the most popular choices on offer was a virtual Stock Market Challenge!
The class played out much like a more intense version of Monopoly as the students split into groups and all tried to gain more control of the market than their friends. It’s a testament to how close the cohort has grown already that they were able to engage in so much friendly rivalry!
In the evening, the counsellors gave the students a talk on what university is like in the UK and a crash course in how to prepare for it. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to bond with the counsellors and to learn from the wealth of knowledge they have between them. Quite a few of our students came out of the talk quite determined to return to the UK when it’s time for them to go to university, which is really wonderful to hear.
For the rest of the evening, our students headed to the park to make the most of the day’s warmth with games of football or basketball. It was a great way to unwind and for some of the people who finished lower in the Stock Market Challenge to even the score!
