Students on our 19 + programmes enjoyed a busy day yesterday as they entered their second day of lessons. Everyone is beginning to settle in properly and the evening at the pub yesterday has really solidified many of the friendships here.
The morning lessons started with energy as everyone headed to their classes. In International Medical Research and Practice, students were having a go at using the stethoscope – an essential skill for any practising medic. It was great to see everyone getting involved, and whilst the lesson was clearly educational, it also provided a lot of entertainment for everyone as they practised with the medical instrument on their new friends.
In Public Speaking for the Modern World and Workplace, students were beginning to develop their confidence with one another as they were given the opportunity to make short speeches in front of the class. The environment was incredibly welcoming as the group encouraged and supported one another to stand up and give a few introductory words.
Once lessons were complete for the day, it was time to unwind a little with another trip into the city centre. Everyone enjoyed the sunshine, however the weather was hot and before long it was time to stop off at a bar for a cool refreshment.
Zohaib and Ela, our counsellors, accompanied students to a rooftop bar, The Varsity Club for a cocktail or mocktail, where the group enjoyed their drinks with a view over Oxford’s dreaming spires. It was a great way for everyone to chat to those who weren’t in their classes. Students mingled with new people and it was brilliant for group bonding.
