The sun was out again at Clare yesterday, and with the prospect of a bright and warm morning, our students headed to their first classes, refreshed after a weekend of fun activities.
Lessons were enthusiastic as ever, and as the students had been away from their desks over the weekend, there was a renewed energy in all of the classes which enlivened the whole college with a fresh spirit. Teachers were certainly impressed by everyone’s attitude to work and for a Monday it was definitely a lively start in Cambridge.
Following lessons, it was time for students to take a boat trip. The group crossed the river to pick up their punts to ride down the Cam in style. The light reflected off the face of the water as the group steered themselves down the Backs and it was an activity that the whole group loved taking part in.
Once the students glided onto the banks to moor, it was time to head back to college to take advantage of the good weather to enjoy a barbecue outside together. The atmosphere was relaxed as everyone ate and chatted, and there was even time for a few rounds of table tennis before homework club called.
After completing their work, students took part in cupcake decorating – a very apt activity considering it was one of our student’s birthdays. Happy Birthday Serafina! The group celebrated the festivities with a cake and some singing and it was fantastic to see smiles all around for the special day.
