Monday saw the start of the programmes for students at Queen’s and fortunately the sun was high in the sky as everyone prepared for their first classes of the session.
It was great to see students engaging with one another as they enjoyed breakfast together before heading to their classes. It seems that they have really gelled as a group so far which sets them in good stead to form enduring friendships over the next two weeks.
Classes began with lots of enthusiasm as teachers encouraged students to play some icebreaker games in order to get to know their classmates a little better. Then it was time for introductions to the programme, which focused on outlining expectations for the students during their stay. Teachers then talked the group through their plan of learning for the next two weeks before it was time to head off for a well-deserved lunch.
Once lessons were complete for the day, it was time to enjoy an afternoon of fun activities and there were plenty of options on offer to everyone. Students had the choice from; board games, a quiz, sports in the park and sunset sketching – so there was a little of something for everyone.
Sports in the park was by far the most popular option available, as most of the students chose to spend their evenings kicking a football around. However, the artists in the group produced some beautiful sketches of the wonderful sunset that we were blessed with last night in Oxford!
