The heights of Week Two towered above the Yale participants on Monday, and some of them attempted to start their ascent by building some spectacular spaghetti structures! There was also a scavenger hunt, on another brilliant day in New Haven.
The day began in slightly cooler temperatures, a relief after the intense heat of Sunday evening. The participants breakfasted, before excitedly heading off to start the second week of lessons. Their teachers had a number of different techniques lined up, with the goal of keeping the classes entertaining amidst the pressure of project deadlines.
This was definitely the case in the Engineering lesson, as the participants were tasked with building structures using uncooked spaghetti and marshmallows. They relished the challenge and constructed some incredible towers, putting their newfound knowledge to the test and devising imaginative designs.
The afternoon saw the participants battle it out in a scavenger hunt, navigating their way around New Haven and getting group photos with number of local landmarks. The hunt was a lot of fun, especially with a little friendly competition as there were ice cream vouchers on the line for the quickest and most creative teams!
The evening was quieter for the participants, as some spectacular weather arrived in the form of a thunderstorm! Mostly they did homework to busy themselves, and allow more time for relaxing when the weather was better. It was another productive day at Yale, and more look set to follow as the programme heads towards its grand finale.
