And so it begins! The summer’s second cohort of ORA students at Balliol have been thrust into the action, as their lessons began on Monday. As well as this, there was a tour and a fun evening activity too.
The academic timetable began after breakfast, on a warm and sunny morning in Oxford. The bright weather was not the only cause for optimism, as the students were keen to get started with their classes.
This positive attitude was translated into a great first day of lessons, with the students getting outlines of their courses and what their final projects or presentations will entail. Their teachers were struck by the eagerness among the group, and it promises to be a fantastic session!
After the day’s classes were finished, there was a chance to explore the city, as the students familiarised themselves with their new surroundings. Oxford is a city of incredible diversity and culture, and everyone was keen to sample as much of this as possible.
After a good explore and a lovely dinner, the students then divided into small groups for the ORA Quiz. The teams faced off in a test of trivia, with questions covering a variety of topics, including the city of Oxford – fortunately everyone had been listening intently during the tour! The quiz was great fun, and a very good ending to an encouraging first day at Balliol.
