Yesterday the students woke up to bright sunshine on their first full day in Oxford. The good weather put sunny smiles on everyone’s faces and breakfast was filled with an air of excitement for the students first lessons!
The morning’s classes were a great opportunity for the cohort to get an overview of everything they’d be studying over the session. The Introduction to Medicine students cut straight to the heart of their course content with a lesson on the different parts of the human heart.
In the afternoon, the students set out on a tour of their new home for the next two weeks! They covered all the most famous parts of Oxford on the counsellor-led tour, from the bridge of sighs to the sheldonian theatre. The artists amongst the students were itching for a pencil to capture some of the beautiful architecture around them!
Then the students had some free time to explore the heart of the city on their own. As it was such a warm afternoon, lots of the students made it their mission to search out ice cream parlours or milkshake shops!
After the students got back to campus in the evening, the counsellors had organised a quiz. The rounds ranged from music to general knowledge and the students’ knowledge of the city was tested with an Oxford themed round. The results were close, but in the end team High came out on top! Well done to them!
Before bed, the students decided to test each others’ sports skills with games of football and volleyball. Though they haven’t chosen a champion yet, it looks like these will be popular choices for evening activities going forward.
The students headed off to bed tired after a long first day and looking forward to another busy day today.
